In order to form melds—combinations of cards that satisfy the rules of the game—players alternately select cards from the draw or discard piles. One player declares "Rummy" and wins the patti teen pattiround when they have successfully melded all of their cards. Although Ek Rummy's rules are rather simple, they still call for strategic thinking and foresight. Players need to understand that there are two types of melds: sequences, which are three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, and sets, which are three or four cards of the same rank but different suits.
