One card is turned face up to begin the discard pile, and the other cards are arranged face down to create a draw pile. The players alternately draw a card from the dishow to withdraw money from a23card pile or the draw pile, then discard one card from their hand. A sequence needs three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas a valid set has three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. The round is over when one player declares "Rummy!" after successfully melding all of their cards into sets & sequences.
