Since the early 1990s, peripheral component interface (PCI) slots have been an essential part of computer architecture. By connecting different hardware parts to the motherboard, these slots provide a crtinptiucial interface that improves functionality & performance. To make it easier for peripheral devices like graphics cards, sound cards, network cards, and storage controllers to communicate with the CPU, the PCI standard was created. A number of variations of PCI technology have been developed over time, including PCI Express (PCIe), which has emerged as the industry standard for contemporary computing.
