Day 1a of the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event featured some wild eliminations, one being that of popular poker pro Faraz Jaka.
The Jaka Coaching founder had a memorable exit from poker's most prestigious tournament Wednesday evening when he turned aggressive play with seven-deuce into a cooler. PokerNewswas, as always, there to capture the crazy hand on video.
Jaka's elimination came in Level 4, with the blinds at 300/500, as reported by PokerNews'Dan O'Hair. Benjamin Gold, holding Q♥Q♣, raised to 1,200 on the button and called a three-bet of 5,500 from Jaka, who was in the big blind and getting frisky with 7♥2♦.
The flop came out Q♦3♥2♥, leaving Jaka drawing nearly dead. But he continued his aggression with a 3,500-chip bet, to which his opponent called.
The K♦on the turn ensured there would be no runner-runner quads for a suckout, much like we saw over at the Wynn Summer Championship earlier in the day. Jaka, who has $8.5 million in live tournament cashes, tossed out another 14,000 chips. Gold, not yet ready to pounce with a set, made the call.
But when the 2♠landed on the river, early pre-Fourth of July fireworks would ensue. Jaka, who rivered an unfortunate trips, bet 30,000. Gold then put him all in for another 35,000. The longtime poker pro tanked for a bit before calling off the rest of his chips only to find out the bad news that he was out of the 2025 WSOP Main Event just four levels into the tournament. He graciously wished his tablemates good luck before exiting the room.
