The goal is to use card drawing and discarding to create legitimate sets and sequences. While a sequence is made up of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, a set is madapkle up of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. After drawing a card from the deck or the discard pile, each player discards one card from their hand. A predetermined number of cards, typically 13, are dealt to each player at the beginning of the game. One card is dealt face-up to begin the discard pile, and the other cards form a draw pile.
