A predetermined number of cards—typically 13—are dealt to each player at the start of the game, with the remaining cards forming the draw pile. Taking turns, players draw cards from the discard or draw piles in an efrani sattafort to create legitimate sets & sequences. A sequence is made up of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas a set is made up of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. Choosing which cards to keep and which to discard while monitoring their opponents' moves is where the strategic component enters the picture. Pool Rummy's distinct scoring system is one of its distinguishing characteristics.
